Zombies are real; they're everywhere in nature, they just live on a different scale. There are fungi, plants, and parasitic worms specialized in taking over the bodies and minds of various insects through very sophisticated methods. In nature, life thrives on anything.
With this premise, I illustrated my first picture book, trying to capture in the images the terrifying ways in which many real organisms survive. Featuring friendly text aimed at children, the illustrations complement the stories, seeking that adolescent morbidity of horror stories with detailed yet imaginative images and poisonous and unexpected colors.
In this twenty cases of possession you will know of cicadas devoured by mushrooms, crickets to drowned by worms, ants impaled by mushrooms, worms that invade snails’ eyes to draw attention of birds to be eaten by them… It's a weird but exciting book.
